10 Steps To A Stress Free Holiday Season!
The holiday season is right around the corner and if you’re like most families, you just don’t have enough time to get done all the things you want. With the kids going in 12 different directions, family coming and going, holiday shopping to be done, dinner to be cooked, cleaning to be done, there just isn’t enough time! If your already feeling the stress of the holidays coming on, follow these 10 suggestions and you’ll be well on your way to a stress free holiday season!
1. Organize & Schedule – take the time right now to sit down and list all of the things that need to be done. Once you are done with that, make sure to set a time frame for each task. By doing this, you’ll have clear guidelines on not only what needs to be done, but also when you are going to do it by. Even go as far as to set up daily to do lists that you can quickly accomplish.
2. Get Help From Others – It is fine to ask others in your family for help. Kids love to help and even the little ones can be made to feel important if they are pitching in and helping the family. Specifically lay out instructions as to what each member of your family can do to help!
3. Avoid The Mall, Shop Online – I know going to the mall is half the fun, or is it? Why go to the mall when you can find the same thing online and save the gas, time at the store and the time waiting in lines.
4. Use A Gift Wrapping Service – If you do decide that you are going to the mall, then once you have the gifts, find a gift wrapping service that can save you a ton of time. For the few bucks you’ll spend on that, it is worth every penny!
5. Outsource Some Of The Cooking – I know everyone loves your famous holiday meals, but there must be some part of it that you can outsource and save a lot of time. One of the best ideas would be having your holiday pies, made somewhere else and picked up the day before the big event.
6. Hire A Cleaning Service – I know this one is a shameless plug, but no matter how you look at it, it does provide a huge benefit. If you don’t have to clean, then you’ll be able to worry about something else. You can also put your trust in a professional cleaning company, that they will make sure the house is exactly how you want it when guests arrive.
7. Be Sure To Get Your Daily Exercise – Yes I know, you are going to tell me you don’t have the time. Just by taking even a 15-30 minute walk in the morning can put you in a better mood, clear your mind and take away stress. A little bit of “you” time can go along way towards taking that stress away.
8. Get A Massage – This goes along the same lines as the exercise. Anything you can do to create a little “you” time, will go along way towards reducing your stress. You’ve worked hard all year, you deserve it!
9. Eat Healthy – Eating good healthy meals during the holiday season is going to give you the energy you need to make sure you are productive. Don’t eat fast food on the run, which is only going to slow you down and make you feel more stressed and more tired.
10. Get Plenty Of Sleep – Nothing is going to be worse, then if right out of the gate in the morning, you already feel tired and unmotivated. Take the time to get a good solid 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
I hope you have found this article helpful and even if you are only able to follow a few of the ideas, you should see a reduced level of stress this holiday season. Remember the holidays are meant for spending time with family and friends and should be filled with love and laughter.
