Should You Set A Test For Your House Cleaner?
Today I am going to be looking at number 8 on the list of “13 Things Your Housecleaner Won’t Tell You”. This list was put together by Readers Digest and Good Morning America. Number 8 is; When using a newmaid service, leave a few dollars hanging out of a pants pocket or lying on the counter. If we take a dollar or two, you’ll know we’re probably going to take other things.
I don’t have a problem with this idea at all. I think these sorts of tests are set all the time in the house cleaning world. Whether it is a client leaving a few dollars behind to see if someone would take it or if they are leaving a little dirt somewhere to see if it is cleaned. Either way, a test is a good way for a client to gage the level of integrity and honesty that a person has. If someone is not happy a client is setting a test, then there is a chance they might have been up to something.
The first thing an employer should be doing is making sure to select the proper candidates to do the job. There are a few things that can be done to help put the clients mind at ease. I wrote about this in a previous article. Click below to find out what should be done prior to hiring.
Pre-Employment Steps Your House Cleaner Should Be Taking
As I said in that article, this does not take away the possibility of theft completely. It does however diminish the chances.
As a client, you should also be working with an employer who has the right type of bond and insurance. In the event all the proper steps have been taken to diminish the chance of theft but something still comes up missing, you’ll be covered. You can click below to find out what type of bond is most important.
If you are working with an employer who takes pride in who they hire, then most of your worries should be gone. Setting tests should be welcomed by the company you are working with. They should know when they put an employee in your home, that they will pass these tests every time.
Please check back soon when I’ll be going over Number 10 on the list of “13 Things Your Housecleaner Won’t Tell You”. Number 10 on the list is; Pick your clothes up off the floor, get your dishes out of the sink, and clean up your kids’ toys. Your house will end up a lot cleaner.
